Verizon Wireless presented Sheriff Al Lamberti of the Broward County, Florida Sheriff's Office with the HopeLine® Law Enforcement Partnership Award at the National Sheriffs' Association's (NSA) annual conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. In honor of Sheriff Lamberti's efforts, Verizon Wireless donated $2,500 to Women In Distress, the leading domestic violence services agency in Broward County. Verizon Wireless HopeLine has partnered with law enforcement and government agencies across the country in a continued commitment towards domestic violence prevention and awareness. Part of this effort is the HopeLine Law Enforcement Partnership Award first given in 2005; this award honors the efforts of public safety organizations nationwide that are committed to reducing domestic violence.

The most recent award was given to Sheriff Al Lamberti of the Broward County, Florida Sheriff's Office at the National Sheriffs' Association's (NSA) annual conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Verizon Wireless donated $2,500 to Women In Distress, the leading domestic violence services agency in Broward County in recognition of Sheriff Lamberti's efforts.

HopeLine has donated BroadbandAccess service to government officials investigating domestic violence in hopes that this will improve their effectiveness in the field. HopeLine has also collected hundreds of old cell phones to be reprogrammed to dial 9-1-1 and given them to police and watch groups to make it easier for victims to call for help in emergencies. Verizon Wireless HopeLine supports counseling programs and other programs designed to bring attention to and prevent domestic violence.
