Employee Giving

As our face of philanthropy, Verizon volunteers demonstrate true service to others through their contributions and continual support of local nonprofit organizations and communities around them. Whether a donation of time and talent or a monetary gift, Verizon values each contribution made by employees and is proud to support their efforts.

Through the Matching Gifts Programs, the Verizon Foundation supports nonprofit organizations most important to employees by matching their donations of time and money. In 2010, Verizon awarded more than $5.5M in cash grants to the non-profit organizations employees volunteered, and matched $13.4 million in employee donations. Through Employee Giving Campaigns, employees rally behind Verizon's key focuses - Education and Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness. In 2010, employees donated nearly $850,000 in supplies benefitting 600 education and domestic violence organizations across the country.

Volunteer Incentive Program
Through Verizon's Volunteer Incentive Program, employees who volunteer a minimum of 50 hours in a calendar year with an eligible nonprofit organization or school can request a $750 grant for their nonprofit/school. In 2010 the Verizon Foundation awarded more than $5.5M in grant awards in support of employee volunteer efforts.

Matching Gifts Program
Employees can earn cash grants for the qualified nonprofits and schools where they volunteer. Employees and retirees can have their monetary charitable donations go further by utilizing the Foundation's Matching Gifts Program.

Verizon Scholarship Program
Children and legal dependents of active employees can apply for scholarships to help with the cost of higher education. Each year, between November 1st and February 1st, the Verizon Scholarship Program accepts applications from eligible students planning to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university for the following fall.
