Verizon Volunteer Programs

Since 2000, Verizon employees have logged more than 6.2 million hours of service to make a positive difference in their communities. Their efforts included mentoring children, coaching youth athletics, working at domestic violence shelters, serving on PTAs, etc. Our employees are the face of Verizon’s philanthropy and they are making a positive impact in neighborhoods across the country and around the world.

Through Verizon's Volunteer Incentive Program, employees who volunteer a minimum of 50 hours in a calendar year with an eligible nonprofit organization or school can request a $750 grant for their nonprofit/school. In 2010 the Verizon Foundation awarded more than $5.5M in grant awards in support of employee volunteer efforts.

Verizon Employees

  • Track your volunteer hours / apply for a Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP) grant - active Verizon employees wishing to request a VIP grant use the Volunteer Journal to log daily entries of their volunteer hours. If you journal 50 or more hours this calendar year with the same nonprofit organization/school, you can apply for a $750 VIP grant for that organization.

How to use the Volunteer Journal / Request A VIP Grant

  1. Volunteer with a United States 501(c)(3) or international equivalent nonprofit organization or public school.
  2. Log your hours online using the Volunteer Journal.
  • Upon logging 50 hours click on "Request Match" (found at the bottom of your volunteer journal page), then complete/submit your VIP grant request
  • Provide the nonprofit/school with instructions on verifying your volunteer hours (follow online instructions)
  • ALL 2012 volunteer hours must be registered using the Volunteer Journal by December 31, 2013.
  • VIP checks are reconciled on a quarterly basis; VIP grant awards are mailed directly to the nonprofit organization

    Please be sure to abide by all Matching Gifts Program rules. Only those application that adhere to the rules will be considered for approval and payout. All Matching Gift requests are subject to review by Verizon Internal Audit and Verizon Security. As stated in the code of Conduct, Verizon does not tolerate falsification or improper alteration of records. Failure to comply with any provision of the Code or company policy is a serious violation, and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
